Lana Del Rey is the stage name of Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, a singer-songwriter born in Manhattan in 1985 who grew up in upstate New York. Her major-label debut, Born to Die (2012), paired cinematic strings with hip-hop beats and set the moody, Americana-soaked style she is known for. It holds the record for the longest-charting album by a woman on the Billboard 200. She stretched that sound across Ultraviolence, Honeymoon and Lust for Life, then earned some of her best reviews with Norman Fucking Rockwell! (2019), which Rolling Stone ranks among the 500 greatest albums. Chemtrails Over the Country Club, Blue Banisters and Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd followed, and she has collected 11 Grammy nominations along the way. In 2025 she headlined an all-stadium UK and Ireland run, including two nights at Wembley, and previewed songs at Stagecoach from her first country album, now titled Stove. In October 2026 she joined Zach Bryan on “Lies,” from his EP Young Manhood & Other Donatable Organs.
