Djo is the music project of Joe Keery, the actor best known as Steve Harrington on Netflix’s Stranger Things. Before Djo, Keery played guitar in the Chicago psych-rock band Post Animal. He launched Djo with the album Twenty Twenty in 2019, a synth-heavy, psychedelic record that kept some distance between the music and his acting fame. His second album, Decide, arrived in 2022. Two years later, its track “End of Beginning” went viral and became his biggest song by far, a nostalgic ode to Chicago that turned Djo from a side project into a headline act. He followed it with The Crux in April 2025, recorded at Electric Lady Studios in New York. Djo’s music mixes electronic sounds, dub influences, heavy synths and indie rock, and it rewards listening past the hit. Fan favorites like “Delete Ya” make great background music for studying or getting work done.
