Buffalo Traffic Jam is a folk-rock duo from Bozeman, Montana: Frankie Cassidy and Nathan Ross. The two met as freshmen at Montana State University in 2020, became roommates and eventually started writing original music together. Cassidy was studying architecture and Ross mechanical engineering. They describe what they make as “music for degenerates,” a mix of vulnerability and grit. Their self-titled EP and singles like “Rescue Me” and “Forgot Your Roots” took off on TikTok and led to a deal with Arista Records. “Fool’s Gold” became their biggest hit. They released the Take Me Home EP in 2025 and their debut album, Pictures of You, in 2026. Their songs deal with identity, memory and self-reflection, and they connect with listeners who like their folk loud and honest.
